TMDb metadata
An optional, free add-on that pulls cast, director, and similar-title info from The Movie Database. Off by default.
What it adds
With TMDb metadata turned on, movie and series detail pages show:
- Cast and Director
- Similar titles you can jump straight to
It’s entirely optional. Extreme InfiniTV works fine without it - you just won’t see these extra details.
What works without it
The Because you watched row on the home screen doesn’t need any of this. It matches titles you’ve already watched against the rest of your library, right on your device, with no API key and no account required.
Getting a free API key
TMDB’s data is free to use with your own key:
- Create a free account at themoviedb.org.
- Open your account settings and go to the API section.
- Request an API key (the approval is instant for personal use).
You’ll end up with two credentials on that page: a short API key (v3 auth) and a longer API read access token (v4 auth). Either one works in Extreme InfiniTV - paste whichever you have.
Turning it on
- Open Settings > Network > TMDb metadata.
- Paste your key or token into the API key field.
- Press Test key to confirm it works.
- Switch Enable enrichment to On.
Privacy
When enabled, the titles you open are sent to TMDB for matching - nothing else leaves your device, and only while enrichment is switched on. Turn it off at any time to stop.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
If the key test fails
- TMDB rejected this key - the key or token is wrong, expired, or was typed with extra spaces. Copy it again from themoviedb.org and paste it fresh.
- Couldn’t reach TMDB - this is a network problem, not the key itself. Check your connection and try again in a moment.
